Vapor IO Brings Currency Based Scheduler to Mesosphere Led DC/OS

Integration will allow users to review pricing for running workloads on Amazon AWS and Microsoft Azure, comparing cost to on-premise offerings, and will provide the ability to orchestrate containers manually or automatically.

AUSTIN, Texas–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Vapor IO, provider of the world’s first truly data defined data center solution and founding DC/OS launch partner, today announced a technology partnership with Mesosphere, creators of the (DC/OS) project. As a result of this partnership, Vapor IO will integrate OpenDCRE (Open Data Center Runtime Environment) into DC/OS to create a currency based scheduler allowing for enhanced operational agility and telemetry.

Using capabilities from Vapor IO’s OpenDCRE, DC/OS users will have insight into underlying infrastructure variables for their workloads to run on various public clouds versus on premise environments, which includes basic costs incurred by physical infrastructure below the rack. This is the first solution that will give CXOs insight into whether their workloads should run on premise or in the cloud, based on policies and economics. Once a decision on the environment of choice has been made, Mist can move those containers automatically or notify the business that a more optimal environment is available.

The OpenDCRE API is easy to integrate into third-party monitoring, management and orchestration solutions, while providing a simple, curl-able interface for common and custom DevOps tasks, and is an alternative to proprietary interfaces and custom silicon.
